Titel
Integration of exer-learning games in school the evaluation of HOPSCOTCH as teaching aid in specialised school
Abstract
This paper examines the benefits of the exer-learning game HOPSCOTCH for students with special needs. We give a thematic overview about the theoretical foundations of digital game-based learning and about exercise in connection with learning; then we report on an empirical study in a public development centre comparing the new teaching method HOPSCOTCH and a traditional teaching method (run and write). In addition, the students' mood was examined because it was assumed that this factor should be enhanced by the integration of the exer-learning game in the classroom compared to the traditional teaching method. The results of the study have shown that students achieve the same learning success with the two learning methods; however, mood is increased by learning with HOPSCOTCH.
