Titel
Fragmentation behavior of tungsten alloy cubes on normal aluminium plate targets
Abstract
Experiments have been performed to investigate the fragmentation behavior of tungsten alloy cubes on 2 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm aluminum plates at normal impact in the velocity range of Vp = 1000-1800 m/s. For observation of the debris cloud expansion and an evaluation of the degree of fragmentation high-speed camera and witness plate techniques have been applied. The amount of fragments increases and the fragment size decreases with increasing impact velocity and decreasing plate thickness. The experimental results have been described by means of a modified breakup model [1].
