Abstract
The present work describes the alternatives for the analysis and the construction of machining simulations with material models for plastic materials in LS-Dyna. The high dynamics, the high plastic deformation, interaction between multiple bodies, and the implementation of additional criteria to allow material separation, are characteristic for machining simulations. In order to analyze machining processes for plastic materials, simulations have been designed with the implementation of the available material models which consider the temperature and strain rate effects. Simulations have been designed in LS-Dyna and the calculations have been carried on with the solver of LS-Dyna integrated in ANSYS.
