Titel
A new method for mould sampling at hard to access surfaces
Abstract
Surface samples of walls and ceilings suspicious to mould growth in large rooms with high ceilings common in historical buildings such as castles or churches are often difficult to obtain because of the limited accessibility of elevated and exposed material surfaces. Ladders or scaffolds demand diligence in application, time and effort and may be considered a nuisance especially at sites of historic, cultural and touristic interest. For sampling of such sites difficult to access we developed and tested a sampling device based on a remote controlled quadrocopter. Whereas quadrocopters and similar devices have already successfully used in remote sensing (e.g. Sturm et al., 2013; Knoth et al., 2011) our approach is a new application for a microcopter which can be called "remote sampling".
