Abstract
The method involves detecting spacing between a platform (105) and an object (107). Approximation of minimum clearance between the platform and the object is completed when the detected clearance is minimum, so that oriented approach speed along the detected minimum clearance is zero. A created two-dimensional spacing card is classified for determining a structure of an object. The platform is aligned relative to the structure of the object. The platform is moved along the structure of the object with minimum distance based on aligned orientation to the structure of the object.

USE: Method for automatically navigating an intrinsically locomotion enabled platform e.g. mobile, floatable and hover enabled platform, relative to an object i.e. three-dimensional object such as cylinder, cone, ball, circle, straight line and edge structures with discrete angles (all claimed).

ADVANTAGE: The method enables moving the platform along the structure of the object with minimum distance based on aligned orientation to the structure of the object, thus moving the platform in a predetermined manner without collision along the object while maintaining the minimum distance and the aligned orientation.
