Titel
Nonaxisymmetric waveshaped EFP warheads
Abstract
Many new and existing Fly-Over-Shoot-Down systems require Non-Axisymmetric (NAS) Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP) Warheads to meet performance requirements. In Fly-Over-Shoot-Down systems, the warhead is mounted perpendicular to the axis of the munitions. The size of an axisymmetric warhead is constrained by the caliber of the munitions. Therefore to deliver more kinetic energy on the target, we use a NAS Warhead that utilizes the volume available along the axis of the munitions. However, current NAS EFP liner designs have extremely complex surfaces making the design task very difEcult and require complex machining and inspection techniques.
