Titel
Evaluation of GA/BAMO-copolymer binder for AL/AP-based propellants
Abstract
A joint European project carried out in the EDA ""Formulation and production of new energetic materials - FPNEM (PA NoB-0585-GEM2-GC) focused among others on the development of a new polymeric system with better properties than those used today (e.g. HTPB and GAP). Glycidyl azide-r-(3,3-bis(azidomethyl)oxetane) copolymers (GA/BAMO) was synthesized by Germany [1], Italy and Norway as a new energetic copolymer and was evaluated for application as rocket propellant. This paper describes the preliminary evaluation of the German GA/BAMO-copolymer as a binder for Al/AP-based propellants. Thermodynamic calculations, mechanical and combustion properties and stability data of the Al/AP/GA-BAMO propellant will be presented and compared with an analogous formulation using GAP binder.
