Trends in the automotive industry tend towards safety, fuel saving and reduction of emissions. This leads to an increased application of higher-and high strength steels in car body production. One problem when cold forming these steels is spring back. This paper will discuss the effects of relevant forming parameters on spring back. In order to visualize the influence of forming parameters on sheet metal parts Barkhausen noise, which is correlated with the residual stresses, was measured nondestructively by 3MA (Micromagnetic Multiparameter Microstructure- and Stress Analysis).
