An extruded multi-chamber profile of aluminum alloy EN AW 6005A was characterized under different stress triaxialities and strain rates. Special specimens under torsion, shear tension and biaxial tension were used to determine fracture strains. The inhomogeneity of local properties in the profile was investigated. An anisotropic material model in combination with a damage model was applied to simulate deformation and damage behavior of the aluminum profile. The strain-rate dependence of flow stress was described taking into account heat generation caused by plastic deformation and heat conduction. Different component tests were performed and simulated to validate the material models.
