Abstract
The robotics market is very divergent regarding the software technologies implemented in the different sectors. The Robot Operating System (ROS) is presented as a potential solution towards software convergence. The ROS-Industrial extension to ROS is presented as a case study of the method by which ROS may penetrate market sectors while maintaining commonality.
