Simulation-based evaluation of edged ultrasound transducer shapes for optoacoustic tomography in biomedical imaging
Abstract
Optoacoustic tomography allows high resolution imaging in applications such as whole-body small animal imaging and imaging of human extremities. cMUTs represent a new class of ultrasound transducers with enhanced sensitivity and bandwidth. However, they only can be produced in defined geometries (preferably planar). We therefore investigated the influence of this geometric limitation on the usability of cMUTs in optoacoustic tomographic imaging.
