Risk factors in Australian government IT projects
Abstract
Risk management has been a subject in software engineering for a few years by now. A large number of methods, tools and guidelines have been produced, to support risk managers in their work. This thesis takes a closer look at the state-of-practice in the public sector. Did the guidelines and methods help risk managers in real life or do discrepancies exist between the advice in literature and current practice? We found a number of differences. Some of them can be explained. Others lead to a discussion on the accuracy of common opinions in literature.
