Abstract
The re-usable silicon nitride ceramic crucible comprises an oxygen-enriched surface layer, which is formed by thermally oxidaizing the silicon nitride ceramic under an air atmosphere or an inert gas atmosphere at a temperature of 1050-1200[deg] C for 0.5-12 hours. An independent claim is included for a method for the preparation of a monocrystalline semi-metal body from a melt.
