Abstract
The method comprises forming a gap between two workpieces (1) for the escape of welding emissions, where one of the two workpieces comprises a coating, applying a viscous additive material (4) to one of the two workpieces for the formation of gaps, and curing the additive material. The step of curing the additive material is carried out by an irradiation, an action of heat, and/or an addition of a curing agent. An adhesive is used as the additive material. The additive material is applied to a surface of one of the workpieces using an application device (5) such as a spraying device. A printing apparatus for printing or coating a workpiece surface (1') is used as the application device. The additive material of the application device is supplied via a metering device such as a metering pump. A unit for curing the additive material is integrated into the application device. The additive material is applied in a region of a weld seam location at a distance from the weld seam location. An evaporation temperature of the additive material lies below the melting temperature of the workpiece material so that, during the production of the weld seam, the additive material is evaporated without residue. The additive material is enriched with a filling material such as sand, glass or metal particles, where the filling material is spherical in shape. A gap is adjusted by a particle having a diameter of = 0.05-0.2 mm. An independent claim is included for a laser-welded workpiece arrangement.
