Titel
Powder injection molding of submicron grained translucent alumina
Abstract
An injection molding feedstock was developed containing the high purity and highly sinter active alumina powder TM-DAR. The selected binder system allowed a volume loading of 57 vol-%. For minimizing metal contamination during feedstock compounding a shear roller was equipped with wear resistant machine components. The produced alumina samples were sintered to full density maintaining a submicron microstructure. They had a translucent appearance with 36,9 % in-line transmission and 74 % total forward transmission at a wavelength of 640 nm.
