Abstract
A complete MMIC-based chipset for multi-Gigabit satellite communication links in the designated E-Band frequency ranges is shown. The chipset includes broadband I/Q up- and downconverter, a frequency multiplier for LO generation, a low noise amplifier with a noise figure below 2 dB integrated within the receiver chip as well as a power amplifier with a saturated output power above 22 dBm. A link budget analysis indicates the feasibility a LEO satellite downlink with the presented fully integrated solid-state chipset with data rates up to 5 Gbit/s.
