Titel
Modelling of contour generation in abrasive water-jet cutting
Abstract
In this paper the formation of surface structures during the cutting process is analyzed differentiating the situations of particle impact. Two different phases of the cutting process are distinguished within this modelling approach. The first phase describes the effect of the primary impact of the abrasive particles whereas the second phase is formed by consecutive impacts of particles at the cutting front. The major object of these modelling approaches is to gain better understanding of the mechanisms of surface formation at the cutting edge. With the identification of the very processes at the cutting front understanding of the process may be enhanced and therefore both cutting performance and quality may be improved.
