i-plant - The multifunctional integration platform: Integrated factory and plant configuration based on a scalable planning approach
Abstract

The requirements on modern software tools grow with the complexity of the task of planning factories and production systems. Distributed expert knowledge, intuitive, team-based planning, running of planning tasks in parallel and integration of the different planning levels are essential for the continuous organisation and adaptation of factories and their production systems. Based on the planning table conceived at the IPA, a platform was developed that links these requirements to each other. Different planning/structural levels can be planned in different levels of detailing (planning quality). The advantages so far obtained with the planning table, such as team-based, intuitive planning, are preserved in full and can be extended accordingly with distributed planning in the expert network.
