Titel
Standardization of aerosol delivery with a new aerosol generating device for use in animal physiology
Abstract
The production and delivery of respirable aerosols to rodents in a reproducible manner has always been problematic. This problem has been further complicated by the fact that few systems allow for the simultaneous generation of aerosols and the measurement of pulmonary mechanics to feedback aerosol generation and deposition. We have therefore developed a novel air driven aerosol generation device called the "Bronchy-H". The air driven aerosol generator is easy to handle. By adjusting the air flow for generation and dilution of the aerosol as well as the pump rate of the solute transport, aerosols can be produced yielding a particle size distribution with a mass median aerodynamic diameter of less than 1µm, a size readily respirable.
