Abstract
The RCS of a generic airborne target is studied with respect to its dependency on frequency. Results are obtained in the frequency range from 1 to 95 GHz. For this task both numerically exact and high-frequency methods are applied. The simulated data show a strong variation of the RCS even within rather small frequency bands. Thus, it becomes obvious that the RCS given in dBm2 at a certain frequency is not always a good measure for characterizing the scattering of an airborne target. Contrary, high-resolution range (HRR) profiles are much more stable even over large frequency bands.
