Different aspects of software processes and process technology have been developed in recent years in academia and practice. Nevertheless, problems with systematic process management addressing an organization's business needs remain. Typically, existing approaches do not consider the specific requirements that are imposed on an organization through its economic context, i.e., an organization's business environment and the organizational goals associated with it. It is hard to find the kind of process management where processes are developed with the intention of systematically satisfying organizational goals. The consequence of such misalignment is reduced process performance, which is frequently encountered in practice. This work presents an approach to achieving systematic alignment of an organization's processes by explicitly considering its organizational goals.
