Abstract
Within the paper we will present an approach for a systematic concept selection, based on the known and proven methodology of Quality Function Deployment (QFD). The enhancement of the QFD approach focuses in addition to the pure concept selection on the consideration of possible platform and variant decisions. Therefore it already enables a variant management in early development phases. For this purpose, a targeted approach for weighting the product requirements from the perspective of different markets, a systematic for concept evaluation of the weighted requirements – also from the point of each focused market as well as a concept evaluation from project and business perspective was developed. A value analysis approach regarding the cost for the requirements can be connected if required. For the aim of the use of the enhanced methodology in small and medium sized enterprises the realization in a simple and transparent approach as well as the freely available implementation into office standard software is primarily important.
