Abstract
When robots are working in direct proximity to humans, a lot of safety requirements have to be fulfilled. Industrial robot applications have to comply with the standard ISO 10218. For service robots a similar ISO standard is currently developed. This lecture gives an overview about normative requirements for the safety of industrial and service robots and describes the current state of the art in safe robot design.
