Deformationsverhalten und Mikrostruktur bei Kompression von extrudierten mehrzelligen TRIP-Stahl/Mg-PSZ-Säulen
Abstract
A unique metal-based cellular composite material, composed of metastable austenitic stainless steel as matrix and additions up to 10 vol.% zirconia as reinforcement phase, is processed by a modified ceramic extrusion and sintering technique. Under compression in out-of-plane direction the honeycomb structure shows a high density of crushed zones and highest strain concentration in the middle section. The matrix microstructure change under axial load is characterized by the TRIP-effect (TRIP: TRansformation-Induced Plasticity), appearing as a deformation-induced formation of martensite. Optical microscopy was used to investigate the microstructure evolution from initial to final deformed state. Compression tests on zirconia reinforced honeycomb samples reveal an increase in strength compared to the non-reinforced steel prototypes up to certain critical failure strains depending on the zirconia fraction, the damage behavior and the applied strain rate.
