Numerical analysis of mixed-lubricated component part contact by FEM
Abstract
For the calculation of mixed lubrication a concept is presented which was developed within the scope of a research project. Using the finite-elemente method (FEM), complicated geometry can be modeled in an easy way. Also, it is possible to change the properties of material and lubricant (i.e. elastic-plastic material behaviour) without high effort. In an example of use, the influence of velocity and temperature on the bearing stress is shown. For a specified load case, the characteristic of friction in dependence of temperature is demonstrated. There is a good agreement of numerical and experimental results for elevated temperatures. For the evaluation of durability, applicable numerical and experimental procedures must be developed.
