Processing: Microwave curing of reinforced plastics
Abstract
Fraunhofer Institure for Chemical Technology (ICT), Germany, has developed a method for producing fiber reinforced plastic parts that are cured using microwaves. The process uses a low viscosity resin that does not set at ambient temperatures. It could find applications in the processing of large parts, such as those used for ships, boats, building facades and windmills.
