The design, fabrication and characterization of athermal all-polymer arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer was discussed. The athermal device, associated with polarization-independence, was realized through properly matching the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the polymer substrate and the thermo-optic (TO) coefficient of the polymer waveguide. The advantages of the all-polymer approach were also discussed.
