Running an assembly process depends on various parameters such as material flow, information flow, life-cycle of services and environmental conditions within assembly units. The parametrization complexity requires methods and tools to configure and evaluate the ability of changes. This paper introduces an prototype system with an intelligent data structure to manage planning and configuring of an assembly system. Its approach is to support the rapid change in product or process systems by offering Virtual Reality (VR) methods and tools for the subjective configuration.
