Within recent years logistics have become more important. Complex supply chains with just-in-time and just-in-sequence-deliveries need available and reliable in-house-logistics-systems, so called intralogistics-systems. The intralogistics industry faces this challenge by providing ro-bust and oversized systems without intelligent maintenance techniques and services. The realisation and operation of these systems is characterised by a waste of resources and the high demanded availability is not achieved. Intelligent maintenance techniques and actions could help increasing availability. At the same time adequately dimensioned systems could contribute to minimising the waste of resources. Therefore, the Chair of Factory Organisation in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) approach the problem of construction and maintenance of intralogistics-systems in order to find different, more efficient ways to reliability and availability.
