Titel
Reduction of the effect of periodic patterns of images in television standards conversion
Abstract
Deals with the problems of movement and image raster compensation in conversion between various TV standards. HDTV will require conversion between 1250, 1125 and 1050 line pictures for Europe, Japan and USA respectively. Aliasing diagrams are shown and methods for detecting periodic image structures using autocorrelation are discussed. 'OR'ing of horizontal and vertical periodicity information is proposed and methods for improving pixel selection are explained. The image resulting for improved selection are presented.
