We report on experimental and theoretical investigations of the switching window for picosecond pulse switching based on four-wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers. We showed that switching contrast effect depends on the power of the signal pulse itself. The higher the signal power, the less is the required advance of the signal pulse relative to the pump pulse to obtain maximum contrast.
