Abstract
With the development and optimization of fast integral techniques such as the Multilevel Fast Multipole Method (MLFMM), surface integral equation solutions by the Method of Moments (MoM) can be obtained for scattering problems which are large and complex enough to be of practical relevance. In this contribution, we present a hybrid Finite Element ? Boundary Integral (FEBI) technique with a very powerful MLFMM acceleration of the BI MoM solution, which is able to model mixed metallic/dielectric objects. Computed radar cross section (RCS) as well as near-field results are shown for a variety of scattering objects. Several of these results are compared to RCS results generated from nearfield measurements by an inverse synthetic aperture (ISAR) imaging algorithm with subsequent far-field computations.
