Titel
A web-based part-task simulation and collaborative training interface for a deep submersible vehicle
Abstract
The ALVIN Deep Submergence Vehicle is a unique research submarine designed for missions at extreme ocean depth, operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). Because the vehicle is booked for years in advance, WHOI and Fraunhofer CRCG developed the ALVIN online part task simulator in order to provide a tool for efficient scientist training. Now, using the the Web, teams of scientists who may be geographically separated, can rehearse their diving missions in advance, and plan their experiments to stay within the energy budget of the Submersible. This way, scientists can learn to maximize the research time available during undersea missions of the ALVIN submersible.
