What the relationship between correct recognition rates and usability measures can tell us about the quality of a speech application
Abstract
This paper addresses the necessity and added information value of considering recognition error rates in interpreting recorded usability measures of a speech-driven application. The proposed integrative perspective allows to estimate the relative contribution of speech recognition accuracy to the usability of a specific system. It enables to assess the effectiveness of provided means of error management. Finally, it serves as a starting point for planning and evaluating optimization efforts.
