Abstract
The uRapid applies to current topics regarding the development and use of generative manufacturing processes and was called into being as a user s conference in London in 1999. Acute, increasing calls for action of many enterprises in the investment and consumer goods industry to develop new products in a faster and more efficient way explain growing importance and spread of Rapid Technologies. The use of Rapid Technologies, which in the beginning was a privilege of big high tech enterprises, has become indispensable for many small and medium sized enterprises. More and more companies with a great spectrum of services in the field of Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling enable this development. The development of Rapid Technologies is extraordinary dynamically. What was originally only suitable for the generation of visual models, is development towards the generation of functional components and tools. New Rapid Technologies, plants and exploitable materials of system providers on the hand and permanently arising new applications and solutions of user enterprises on the other hand make it difficult for potential users to keep pace with the continuous progress and to utilize it for the own enterprise. The Fraunhofer Institutes of the Allianz Rapid Prototyping have been supporting for many years the effort of small and big enterprises to improve their capacity and competitiveness with the help of the development and use of Rapid Technologies. Therefore, the Fraunhofer Allianz Rapid Prototyping has the task to organize a practice-oriented knowledge and experience forum from users for users. The topics of the uRapid 2000 - Rapid Product Development: Strategies and Concepts, - Product design, Virtual Planning, Tools and Data Management, - New Rapid Technologies and Materials, - Rapid Tooling and Rapid Manufacturing, - Progressive Application Uses - Rapid Prototyping and Tooling take into account the advancements of Rapid Process as well as the calls for action of progressive and innovative enterprises. We could win enterprises and specialists from Europe and other countries to present their Rapid Solutions. A conference accompanying exhibition will contribute to demonstrate and visualize interesting Raping Approaches.

Der Konferenzband präsentiert die 30 Vorträge internationaler Referenten zur Internationalen Anwenderkonferenz uRapid2000 der Fraunhofer-Allianz Rapid Prototyping vom 29. bis 31. Mai 2000 in Berlin.
