High-speed precision machining techniques (e.g. percussion drilling or surface structuring) require high power pulsed lasers with excellent beam quality. A Nd:YAG MOPA-System, designed for nanosecond pulse durations, up to 250 mJ pulse energy and a pulse repetition rate of several kHz has been developed. The prototype delivers an average power of 300 W with a repetition rate of 3.3 kHz and a pulse duration of 16 ns and 400 W with 10 kHz and 31 ns with a beam quality of M2 » 2. A setup with 8-10 ns pulse duration, 0 - 20 kHz repetition rate and an expected average output power of more than 1 kW is currently being assembled.
