The model of a new generation of slab-lasers is introduced. This model divides up into two parts: determination of the pumping light, temperature, and gain distribution in the Nd:YAG crystal and optimization of the optical focusing system; and modeling of the resulting optical field inside and outside the resonator in consideration of gain and thermally induced variation of the refraction index.
