CEFIT - A Numerical Modeling Tool for Axisymetric Wave Propagation in Cylindrical Media
Abstract
The spatial and temporal staggered grid formulation of CEFIT produces a very stable and efficient numerical code. The implementation of boundary conditions at inner and outer boundaries of the model is much easier then in standart FD schemes using nonstaggered grids. With CEFIT. axisymetric three-dimensional problems can be treated in a two-dimensional rectangular grid in the (r,z)-halfplane. The good agreement between theory and numerical calculations demonstrates the accuracy of the numerical code. Further fields of application not presented here are waves in acoustic microscopes, simmulation of impact-echo measurements in multi-layer systems and axisymmetric wave propagation in arbitrary bodies of revolution.
