Abstract
DE 10051515 A UPAB: 20020701 NOVELTY - Capture substrate (A) for collecting airborne microorganisms has a surface made entirely, or at least mainly, of moisture-retaining glass and/or glass-ceramic, is new. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (1) bioindicator for qualitative or quantitative analysis of airborne microorganisms that includes (A); and (2) method for either integrative, non-specific or selective collection of airborne microorganisms using (A). USE - (A) is used in bioindicators for qualitative or quantitative analysis of airborne microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeast), either for non-specific (integrative) or selective collection, e.g. in hospitals or working/living environments. ADVANTAGE - (A) can be exposed to the environment for a long time without drying out (so that captured microorganisms remain viable and capable of characterization) and allows simple and reliable indication of air contamination. It is made from inexpensive materials; is simple to handle, requires no maintenance and is non-polluting; also since it is very small, it is inconspicuous.
