Titel
Calculation models and simulation tests for assessing the moisture behavior of wooden structural units
Abstract
For the simulated, time accelerated weather exposure of structural units, average annual courses of air temperature, dew point temperature, relative air humidity and duration of sunshine were calculated for Glasgow, Madrid and Sundsvall by regression analyses. Control curves for a twin climatic chamber and peripheral climatic conditions for a method of calculation were deduced. For the time acceleration a special method was developed. For the weather exposure with the Glasgow and Madrid climate, an alterable, double shelled wall was erected and fitted out with measuring techniques for measurement of temperature and material moisture. For the test with Sundsvall climate, it was reconstructed to a single-shelled wall element with increased heat insulation and split exterior boarding. Alongside the temperature and moisture behavior of the wooden material structural unit layers, the moisture distribution in the cross-section of the exterior layers was investigated. Comparison between value s measured and those calculated showed good correlation for Glasgow and Madrid climates, whereas deviations were seen in the annual weather course in the material moistures, which for the main part can be put down to differences in the air pressure between the warm and the cold chamber, which were caused by the experiment. In future it will be better possible to adapt wooden exterior structural units to various European climates in a suitable period of time through simulation tests. (WKI)
