Abstract
A theoretical calculation of the S-N-curves based on crack propagation of geometrically similar specimens with and without incomplete joint penetration is presented. The results are compared with the experimental data from another investigation. The specimens made of the alloy AlMg4.5Mn (W28) were manufactured by metal-inert gas welding. For the fracture -mechanical calculations of the crack propagation, one model for the calculation of a fictitious initial crack is developed for the samples without incomplete joint penetration and one model for the calculation of the stress-intensity factors in the fracture cross-section is developed for the specimens with incomplete joint penetration.
