The EMI high intensity flash soft X-ray machine which was developed at EMI has been used in the past years for the study of jet structures in liquid propellant guns. In order to optimize the contrast of the flash radiographs, which requires a dose maximization of the emitted flash X-ray, various constructive alterations to the X-ray diode are necessary in the course of the experiment. They can be clearly planned and documented by means of CAD (Computer Aided Design). For the documentation of the facility, the revised version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Release 11, which has been commercially available since about May 1991, was used. The main emphasis of its application was put on producing 2-dimensional technical drawings of the entire pulser facility, of which a complete constructive documentation has not yet been made. Also 3-dimensional presentations of different kinds of views were made and compared. In addition, the present report gives a summary on the experiences gained with AutoCAD so far.
