The arrangement of the draw pins as well as their actuation in particular were chiefly determined by trial and error. Such an approach, in which the required draw pin force characteristics are determined by simply trying them out, is unacceptable in practice for complicated drawing operations. In parallel with the experimental work, investigations were carried out as to the possibilities offered by numeric simulation in determining necessary setting parameters. Results show that numeric simulation can be an effective aid in solving the problem.
