Titel
DESIRe - An approach for an image quality controlled and scalable rendering tool
Abstract
In this paper we present the structure of DESIRe, a scalable rendering tool. It is designed as a visualization tool for different applications within integrated working environments and provides a unique interface between users, rendering techniques and hardware platforms. This interface is based on an small set of control items, so-called image quality, using levles of increasing complexity. Special facilities, offered by the hardware, can be included in this mechanism as image quality levels for establishing interactive speed. For interactive working, the user can reduce image quality via restrictions placed on the image quality classes. For non-interactive working, image quality may rise incrementally up to the final image quality.
