Application of synergetic computers
Abstract
Synergetic computers are a class of new algorithms which are motivated by self-organizing processes in nature. They are stemming from the field of synergetics and have originally been proposed by Haken. Due to the close mathematical similarity between synergetic computer algorithms and the description of synergetic effects in the biological and physical nature, there are new perspectives for promising hardware realizations of synergetic computers. Such realizations can be based on effects of self-organizations, e. g. in semiconductors or other solid state devices. The paper gives an overview on experiments with software simulations of synergetic computers in the fields of object recognition (car wheel identification), quality control (detection of texture errors in fabrics), sound analysis, and recognition of motion (Identification of persons). The focus attention lies on the performance in practical applications.
