Abstract
Approximation formulae to estimate crater dimensions in sand and clay were compiled. The HE-charges detonate at the maximum cratering efficiency depth. The available approximation formulae were assessed. If data consistency could be reached, those formulae were selected that result in maximum crater dimensions. For the threat of an earth-dam the worst-case situation can be estimated.
