Abstract
The oscillation criteria developed by Pfersmann (Diehl Company) using the data of closed bomb tests with solid propellants as well as the criteria of Haberl (General Electric Co.) using droplet combustion models have been modified. The so-called stability number S and the impulse function I were used to describe the onset of pressure oscillations in regenerative liquid propellant gun. S and I are derived from the heat release dQ/dt which itself has been calculated from the measured pressure histories. While the analysis of the 28-mm caliber RLPG data yielded an acceptable comparison scaling to larger calibers is extremely difficult.
