Abstract
Electric energy can be obtained via the electrochemical reaction of aluminium and oxygen. This is the same way of energy conversion as already known from zinc air cells. Zinc air cells are applied as power sources for hearing aids and isolated signals. A galvanic cell for the conversion of metals and oxygen often is included in the group of fuel cells, the metal replacing the fuel. The development of aluminium air cells so far was focused on power sources for electric vehicles and on different sea water applications.
