Time-resolved mesurement of the heat feedback in a pool fire
Abstract
Pool Fire are suitable for modelling hazardous fires and flames in disposal facilities. This paper presents on-line measurements of radiative intersity and flame temperature using a rapid two-colour-pyrometer located at various positions of the liquid surface of an isooctane and 2-propanol pool fire. By the additional use of movie-exposures of the flame shape a model was developed to explain time-dependent radiation phenomena and to determine the amount of soot-radiation relative to the total heat feedback to the fuel (Isooktan 25%, Isopropanol 5%). The model is based on the assumption of a single moving flame structure which is responsible for the radiative phenomena. This model shows interesting possibilities to evaluate the radiative power to bigger hazardous fires.
