A device which orients and positions preferably flat textile workpieces on a positioning table has at least one controllable positioning unit and a movable cutting plate above the positioning table. The positioning units are equipped with driven rollers mounted in movable bearings above the positioning table and lowerable onto the positioning table, whereby the rotary axes of the rollers are about parallel to the service of the positioning table. In order to move the individual components, preferably pneumatic cylinders are provided, the rollers being driven by electric motors and control being performed by a stored-programmable controller.
